Summer Young Company is Theatre by the Lake's Summer School in which young people work alongside a professional director to make a play over a four-day series of fun and practical sessions with a showing at the end of each week for friends and family to enjoy.
It's an opportunity for young people to make new friends, grow in confidence and develop new skills, whilst learning about performance in a working theatre alongside industry professionals. Above all, it's about being creative and having fun.
All sessions will be led by Theatre Director Bobby Brook, a recipient of one of BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowships in 2014. Bobby has worked extensively in theatre, with credits including The Acedian Pirates (Theatre503), Animal Farm and The Book of Everything (Harrogate Theatre), DeoxyriboNucleic Acid (National Theatre) and Bold Girls (Theatre by the Lake). Bobby led last year's Summer Schools and is back by popular demand.
Who can take part? Anyone aged between7 and 18 can take part, regardless of experience. The company will be split into two age groups: 7 to 12 yrs old and 13 to 18 yrs old.
