Laura Eason is a Brooklyn-based playwright, screenwriter and producer.
She is best known for four seasons as a writer/producer on the Netflix drama House of Cards (Emmy Nomination for Drama Series, WGA nomination for outstanding
writing in a drama series) and her more than twenty produced stage adaptations and plays. They include Sex with Strangers (Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago; Second Stage, New York; Hampstead Theatre, London; Sydney Theatre, Australia; Blackwing Productions, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Teatro das Artes, Rio, Brazil; one of the most produced plays in America in 2015, 2016 and 2017, with over fifty separate productions in the U.S.) and Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days (also director of world premiere at Lookingglass Theatre, Chicago; Baltimore Centerstage; Kansas City Rep; St. James Theatre, London, Royal Exchange, Manchester; New Vic, Stoke-on-Trent; 18 city 2017 UK tour including London’s Cadogan Hall).
She has written TV pilots for 20th Century Fox TV/FOX network, Fox 21/Scripted World and is adapting Peter Nichols’ novel The Rocks for TV with producers eOne/42/Automatik. Her feature film debut, produced by and starring Sarah Jessica Parker, completed principle photography in July 2017. She is currently writing the third play in her indie rock trilogy, Girl Band, for Second Stage theatre in New York.
Eason is an ensemble member and the former Artistic Director of Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago (2011 Regional Theatre Tony Award), a Dramatists Guild and WGAE, AEA, SAG, & SDC member and an alumna of the WP Playwrights lab.
