Tom is Artistic Director and Executive Producer of Jermyn Street Theatre. He was Artistic Director of Primavera for over ten years, Associate Director of Theatre503, and Associate Director of the Peter Hall Company. Earlier this year he directed Miss Julie and Creditors at Theatre by the Lake before they moved to Jermyn Street Theatre.
Last summer he directed Single Spies, and the previous summer he directed Miss Julie.
Tom has directed over sixty plays and musicals in London, the UK, and Europe, including Good Grief with Penelope Keith (Theatre Royal Bath and national tour), Cabaret (Frankfurt / Munich), Jekyll and Hyde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Glass Menagerie (Frankfurt), A Little Night Music (Budapest), Tonight at 8.30, The Blinding Light, Miss Julie, First Episode, The Living Room (Jermyn Street Theatre), Pictures of Dorian Gray (Stephen Joseph, Scarborough / Jermyn Street Theatre / Creation, Oxford), Saturday Night (West End), Romeo and Juliet, Measure for Measure (Cambridge Arts Theatre), Love’s Labour’s Lost, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night (Guildford Shakespeare Company), Merit, Jingo (Finborough), As You Like It (Creation), Murder in the Cathedral (Oxford Playhouse/Christ Church Cathedral), Absurd Person Singular (national tour).
He trained as an assistant/associate director to leading figures including Alan Strachan, Peter Gill, Sir Peter Hall and Sir Trevor Nunn. His productions have been nominated for numerous Critics’ Choice and OffWestEnd Awards. Tom lives in Cambridge, where he teaches English Literature at the university.
