Theatre by the Lake

'You don’t expect a theatre to be tucked away in the middle of Lakeland but it looks as if it has always been there, as old as the dry stone walls or the pastures surrounding it' Alfred Hickling, The Guardian

Theatre by the Lake is on the edge of the bustling Lake District town of Keswick in a uniquely beautiful setting close to Derwentwater. The views from nearby Crow Park down the lake to Cat Bells and Borrowdale and back to Skiddaw are outstanding.

Getting here

On foot: The theatre is a five minute walk from the town centre (follow signs for the Lake).

Driving: We are located off Lake Road (see map). Directions are indicated by brown tourist road signs throughout the town.
Public transport: The nearest train station (on the West Coast main line) is located in Penrith, approx. 17 miles from Keswick. The X5 bus service runs in both directions from Penrith to Keswick every hour throughout the day, seven days a week (inc. bank holidays).
