David Crystal: Disappearing dialects – or not?

Sat 8 June | 10am

In his recent book, The Disappearing Dictionary, Honorary Professor of Linguistics at Bangor University, David Crystal tells the remarkable story behind the first English Dialect Dictionary, compiled by Joseph Wright over a century ago. In this talk he describes local Cumbrian words found within, and asks the question: ‘Are they still being used?’ David hopes the audience will provide some answers.
