Words by the Water 2025

A Festival of Words and Ideas Wed 12 – Sun 16 Mar
Words by the Water Festival of Words and Ideas is returning to Theatre by the Lake in Keswick in Spring 2025.

This year’s festival  promises to be a celebration of local talent and also some famous names for a glittering line-up of authors. The Words by the Water Festival is also hosting a number of practical writing workshops through the week and competitions for young Cumbrian writers.

The programme includes Cumbrian farmer and author James Rebanks, celebrated crime writer Ann Cleeves and former Strictly Come Dancing competitor Rev Richard Coles, all discussing their new books.

For more information on the line-up check the Words by the Water website here or download the brochure here. To sign up for the festival mailing list and get updates email info@wordsbythewaterkeswick.com or go to the contact page.

PLAN AHEAD for PARKING

Lakeside Car Park is owned and operated by Cumberland Council and offers pay and display parking (cash and card payments accepted or payment via the MiPermit app). The car park is situated next to the theatre and contains 235 parking bays, 14 disabled spaces and 4 coach bays. Parking after 7pm costs £1.10.

The car park is extremely busy, particularly for matinee performances, with visitors to Derwentwater, Hope Park and Keswick town centre as well as the theatre. We advise planning in advance and arriving in plenty of time before performances.

Further car parks in Keswick can be found at Visit Keswick Parking options.
