Working With Schools
Everyone at the theatre knows that the young people of today will be the audiences of tomorrow, so we want to encourage schools to come and see productions at one of Britain's leading regional theatres. We offer a special ticket price of £10 for pupils under 16, with one free teacher ticket for every ten children. We programme around 20 special 'schools performances' of our annual children's show. We also offer half price tickets for students for other home-produced shows.
For information on tickets, please contact the Schools Booking Desk on 017687 81129 or by email on firstname.lastname@example.org. If your call is not answered immediately, please leave a message and one of our specialist schools operators will get back to you within 24 hours.

a limited number of which are free - please contact email@example.com
. Beauty and the Beast
runs at Theatre by the Lake from 23 November 2018 to 12 January 2019; find out more about it here
To support workshops and classes we have resource packs available - to download and find out more follow the drop down 'Resources' tab on the right.
Theatre by the Lake is a certified Arts Award provider. Arts Award offers the perfect framework for introducing young people to theatre as an art form, creating chances to explore, grow in confidence and broaden horizons. Our new package for Arts Award Discover offers a minimum of 10 hours of interactive workshops, at the theatre and in schools. Young people will explore different aspects of theatre then share ideas through performance, and each series of workshops links TBTL's stage work with the school's curriculum.
In addition, classes participating in the Arts Award scheme will have the chance to part of a new feature at Theatre by the Lake, our ‘Curtain Raisers', where they will present a short piece on the main stage prior to a scheduled show in front of an audience, developed with TBTL creatives.
We are also developing new ways of working with schools, including:
- A ‘Teaching Preview Club' for teachers to see productions at the start of the run and to network with peers and TBTL staff
- A free CPD day to be held each year at the theatre
- ‘Schools' Talking Theatre' in which schools coming to see our productions will be invited to participate in a special one-hour session designed to engage students with the approaches, challenges and discoveries that are involved in the creation of the show
