The weekend kicks off with a stellar double bill of two of the UK’s most acclaimed folk artists. Chris While and Julie Matthews won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for ‘Best Duo’ in 2009. They will be performing an hour-long set of songs of breathtaking harmonies, superb musicianship, humour and stories.
Jez Lowe and The Bad Pennies' strong vocals, backed by outstanding instrumental back-up on guitar, cittern, fiddle, fretless bass, keyboards and Northumbrian Pipes, have established the band as an unmissable live attraction.

This multi-talented, multi-generational band of folk-rockers evolved from the redoubtable Doonan family Band. They have a deserved reputation for their imaginative and innovative interpretations of traditional and contemporary songs. The inclusion of new family members put the 'mighty' into The Mighty Doonans, creating a massive musical powerhouse with incredible vocal performances.
