Synopsis

Lakeland Fiddle: Improvers Masterclass
Sat 6 Feb, 11am, Rehearsal Room

This workshop led by professional Lakeland Fiddler Carolyn Francis will explore traditional tunes from Cumbria, such as those from the manuscripts of 19th century Langdale fiddle player William Irwin. Musicians should have at least a basic understanding of fiddle playing to fully benefit from the workshop. Players of all abilities above this level are welcome.

Lakeland Step Dance: Beginners Class
Sat 6 Feb, 1pm, Rehearsal Room

Lakeland Step Dancing is a lively, fun and showy style that was recorded in the 1960s in the area that is now called Cumbria. With expert tutorage from Westmorland Clog Dance Champion Toby Bennett you will explore the basics, learn some of the steps and put them into simple reel type dances with music provided by fiddle player Carolyn Francis. Suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to explore the Lakeland step dance style.

Bring some hard soled shoes so you can make some noise with your feet, or clogs if you have them.

Lakeland Step Dance: Improvers Masterclass

This masterclass is for those familiar with the basics of step dance who want to increase their repertoire and hone their technical skills. Led by Westmorland Clog Dance Champion Toby Bennett you’ll dance to Lakeland Hornpipes and other great lively tunes for step dance courtesy of fiddle player Carolyn Francis.
