The finest Jazz film ever made? Round Midnight is a fictional story but drawn from the real-life experiences of Jazz musicians. Saxophonist Dexter Gordon (nominated for an Oscar for the role) plays Dale Turner, a fading musician who moves to Paris to resurrect his career and find an audience. Befriended by a local music lover, Dale Turners journey takes its toll on them both.

Herbie Hancock supervised the music performances, ensuring that extra blend of authenticity and star quality.

‘One of the best Jazz films ever made, this succeeds by melding French sensibilities about atmosphere with American sensibilities about the music’ - Film 4
