The La’al Big Band

Cumbria's own seventeen-piece swing orchestra featuring the excellent vocals of Sara Creeney and Nick King, present their exciting new show. This concert is a stunning celebration of musical history, celebrating the great bandleaders, arrangers and performers of the 20th century and beyond, including features and solos from top musicians, and memorable songs from the likes of legends such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Michael Buble.
The La'al Big Band, which is anything but la'al*, was formed in April 2011 by a group of like-minded musicians to provide the Lake District with its own jazz and swing orchestra. Since then the band has received rave reviews, with regular appearances on BBC Radio Cumbria and songs from their latest CD "The Big Band Theory” featuring on BBC Radio 2's Claire Teal Show.
The semi-professional band is a powerhouse ensemble, and the majesty of the trumpets, the smoothness of the trombones, the sultry saxophones and the driving rhythm all combine to bring you an experience you will not easily forget. Relive the golden age of big bands with arrangements from the libraries of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Nelson Riddle and many more in this two-hour energy packed show.
Hospice at Home will be the beneficiary of the concert. They provide high quality care and support for adults who have palliative and end of life care needs and also for their families/carers. The service employs Registered Nurses together with Health Care Professionals; also works with Volunteers.
