This production ended on 03/12/2017

Synopsis

This well-established Christmas concert will be lead again by husband and wife team Graeme Danby and Valerie Reid, who are professional singers, and will feature a variety of acts to suit all musical tastes.

Graeme, who will be the entertaining MC, was born in Consett, Durham and has been a member of the English National Opera for many years. An operatic bass, he is equally at home singing popular light music or humorous Geordie classics.

Valerie trained at the Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She is a mezzo-soprano and has sung with the English National Opera and Scottish Opera. She will this year be entertaining us once more with her ballads and captivating duets with Graeme.

The NASUWT Riverside Band regularly qualify for the Elite Section of the National Brass Band championship of GB, no mean achievement for an amateur band. They play a wide range of music to a high standard, from Big Band numbers to excellent solo music from younger members.

The St Herbert's C of E Primary School Choir joined the concert five years ago and they were an instant hit under the astute direction of their conductor/head teacher Mrs Shelagh Hughes. Their musical talent, together with enthusiasm and humorous qualities has been very much appreciated since.
