Cumbrian singer/songwriter Phil Lewthwaite brings his new concept
, LakelandSong to Theatre by the Lake on November 29th.
“I first had the idea a few years ago about developing a collective of songs and images that would loosely form a narrative about my experience of growing up and living in Cumbria. One of the songs ‘Over the wall’ for example, is about a man who lived near our family. He was a real eccentric, but a brilliant TV and radio engineer. He once fixed our TV in the garden one autumn evening while my sister and I sat in our coats watching Dr Who! Another song, ‘Lavender skies’ is a song I wrote about Wasdale- my favourite place on the planet! So the subject matter I write about is pretty varied! The songs stand on their own, but put together, it forms a biography of my personal Cumbrian experience”.
Genres covered range from acoustic to rock, played by Phil and his band, set to large format projected images.
