Helping Hands – Volunteer Differently

Updated in Sep 2023. A brand new volunteering project @helpinghandscumbria officially launched on Friday 2 December, 2022!

Helping Hands is a brand new volunteering project for Cumbria, that places you at the heart of your volunteering experience.  Together with 45 countywide partners, Helping Hands aims to improve your access to exciting volunteer opportunities within arts and heritage organisations across Cumbria.  Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, start a new career or meet new people, Helping Hands will get you there with 1-2-1 support and volunteer opportunities shaped around your needs.

Helping Hands is an ambitious 2- year project to transform cultural volunteering in Cumbria: it will improve community wellbeing, grow capacity & workforce diversity across the Cumbrian culture sector and break down barriers to volunteering that exist across a large, complex, rural county.

Led by the Cumbria Museum Consortium, Helping Hands is funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport through Volunteering Futures delivered by Arts Council England.

To find out how Helping Hands can support you to start volunteering, head to the Helping Hands website.  Here you’ll be able to browse the volunteer opportunities already available, sign up to the monthly Helping Hands newsletter or book a 1-2-1 with one of the Helping Hands Volunteer Leads.
