Artist Network

Here at Theatre by the Lake we’re passionate about local artists and stories. If you’re a Cumbrian artist from any background or level of experience, then there’s a way you can get involved. By signing up for our Cumbrian Creatives network you’ll be kept up to date about opportunities to create, collaborate and connect with other creatives here at TBTL and beyond.

We’ve shared a bit more about our regular offer below, but you can ask us any questions by emailing our Assistant Producer Claire Dunk using the contact details below.

Mixers and discounted tickets

For our home produced shows host social events at Theatre by the Lake, our mixers are a great chance to meet other people on the network and watch a production for a discounted price.

Open Space

Our annual scratch night gives local artists a chance to test and share their work before a friendly and supportive audience. Four 15 minute pieces are shared on the evening, with chance for feedback and a drink at the bar afterwards. The next Open Space event is Sat 26 October.

Tour the Writer

We are partnering with Paines Plough on a three year writer development programme to create a local, regional and national network of writers and storytellers, whilst offering support, development and mentoring from the team at TBTL and Paines Plough.

Open auditions

Every year we invite actors on the Cumbrian Creatives network to attend open auditions with our Artistic Director, Liz Stevenson. These take place both online and at the theatre and are a great way for us to get to know local talent.

Walks and talks

We often offer the chance for people to meet different members of the staff team to ask questions, share ideas and get to know each other. And it gives us an excuse to get away from our desks and enjoy our beautiful surroundings!
