Theatre by the Lake is committed to the development of positive policies to promote equal opportunities regardless of gender, marital status, colour, race, ethnic origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or responsibilities to dependants. We are a Disability Confident employer, recruiting and supporting disabled people in the workplace. All job candidates who identify as having a disability and who meet the minimum criteria for short-listing for a role will be offered an interview.
We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We have identified that our workforce is currently under-representative of certain communities and so we particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and from Disabled people.
TBTL is fully committed to providing a work environment in which all employees and job applicants are treated with respect and dignity and that is free of harassment of any kind.
We expect all our staff to embrace our values – they’re at the heart of everything we do:
We are stronger and increase our impact through working with others
We are accessible and welcoming, and benefit from a range of lived experiences and perspectives.
We are brave and ambitious.
We are creative thinkers, making our own opportunities and responding to need.
We are embedded in our place, our community and our environment

The Production Department often requires additional freelance support from technicians, stage managers and wardrobe staff.
Duties may include providing sound, lighting and other technical services in support of performances, festivals and events at Theatre by the Lake.
We are often looking for people to support on get-ins, get-outs and turnarounds, but depending on experience we sometimes need people to operate sound & lighting, or working on stage during our performances.
Duties may include helping to provide props and furniture for shows, props or puppetry making, or running a wing during a show including scene and costume quick changes.
We are often looking to work with freelance CSMs, DSMs and ASMs for our home-produced work, so get in touch if you would like to be considered for future projects
Duties range from supporting our wardrobe department with routine laundry and basic costume repairs, to making costumes and acting as a dresser for performances as required.
Prior experience is not necessary, but we would also welcome interest from those with theatrical experience.
The above roles don’t necessarily require regular commitment – we often need ad hoc support at busy times of year, so if you are interested in any of these roles please just contact Philip Geller (Production and Technical Manager) firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTORFri 14 Oct
We are looking for an Executive Director to work collaboratively in a joint-leadership role with our Artistic Director. You will be responsible for providing dynamic and inspirational leadership to our management team and to our many external partners and supporting and enabling the Artistic Director to achieve our artistic ambitions.
We don’t have any on stage opportunities at the present time.
My favourite part of the day is at the end of a performance when the audience is buzzing and the atmosphere is electric. All our teams have worked together to give the audience that wonderful experience.
