Case Study: Young Families and Under 4s 

We’re investing in ways to welcome more young families and carers of young children into our building, creating joyful, creative experiences for everyone. 

Along with programming work in the Studio specifically for young children, an exciting new addition to our programme has been Big Days for Tiny Theatre Makers; special days designed just for under 4s (and their grown-ups). 

These sessions are perfect for little ones to explore stories, colour and play across our spaces. Families enjoyed storytelling sessions on the Mezzanine, painting and creative play in the Circle exhibition space, and three performances of Playtime, our interactive, sensory theatre experience created especially for very young audiences. 

These Big Days gave families the freedom to explore the building, meet others, and enjoy theatre in a relaxed, welcoming environment.  

We’re so proud to see Theatre by the Lake becoming a space where families can connect, play and make memories together. This is just the beginning; we’re continuing to grow our provision for young families and carers and can’t wait to share more opportunities for our tiny theatre makers to shine.
