Luke Barley: Reviving Ancient Woodlands

Friday 13 March | 12:30pm

Ancient woods are Britain’s richest habitats: rare fragments of our landscape that teem with life from soil to canopy. Their story has always been one of interdependence with people. Now, as ever, these woods – including remnants of the primeval ‘wildwood’ – need the thoughtful intervention of humans to survive.

With more than 20 years’ experience of rehabilitating ancient woodland in the Lake District and beyond, senior advisor on trees and woodland for the National Trust, Luke Barley takes us deep into the woods to reveal majestic oaks, freshly coppiced hazels and endangered limes.
