Theatre by the Lake presents
Panel: One and Only: The Joys and Challenges of Making Solo Work
Sunday 2 November | 5.30-6.30pmWhat does it take to create and perform a one-person show? This panel dives into the unique rewards and hurdles of solo theatre—whether it’s the freedom of telling a story in your own voice, the intimacy of direct connection with an audience, or the stamina and resilience required to hold the stage alone. Together we’ll explore how solo work can be both deeply personal and surprisingly collaborative, and what makes it such a distinctive form of theatre-making.
Manchester-based theatre-maker Afreena Islam-Wright will be in conversation with Julia Samuels, Theatre by the Lake’s Artistic Director (Maternity Cover), who recently directed Afreena’s autobiographical show Lucky Tonight!
