Success of TBTL’s Autumn season

Theatre by the Lake has announced that a surge in popularity for its Autumn season of shows means that the venue will be flexing up more performances to full capacity to meet demand from bookers.

When they booked, customers were made aware that if they wished to attend socially distanced shows they should book for the programmed ‘Guaranteed Socially Distanced’ shows (which wouldn’t alter). All other shows were sold with social distancing in place, but bookers were informed that these shows could later alter to full capacity if demand increased.

Home I’m Darling has proved a hit with audiences and critics alike since it opened in Keswick with the News & Star giving it four stars, The Keswick Reminder commenting “sharply written, cleverly observed, well acted and superbly designed.” An enthusiastic audience member from Scotland told the theatre “I have been coming for some years…this must be one of the best [plays] I’ve seen. The script was witty, cleverly satirical and rich in allusions.  Terrific acting… It deserves a longer UK tour.”  Eight performances of the show will flex up. This is not the entire run however, and the theatre has committed to alter an additional 14 performances to become Guaranteed Socially Distanced shows to ensure there are plenty of options for theatregoers.

For their November show Jacaranda, three performances will be flexed up to full capacity with a further six additional performances becoming Guaranteed Socially Distanced shows.

Bookers are encouraged to visit the theatre’s website where details of the types of performances can be found on the event page for each show.  Those who have missed out on sold out performances are encouraged to try other dates given the increased availability.

Those who cannot get to Keswick or are still shielding can take up the theatre’s digital capture of Home I’m Darling by purchasing their ticket online.  The digital ticket can be purchased for dates between Sat 23 – Sat 30 October inclusive.

TBTL’s Artistic Director, Liz Stevenson said:

“We’re absolutely delighted that our audiences are coming back in such numbers.  We’ve worked hard to ensure there are options for everybody to access our work in a variety of different scenarios and that our Covid safety measures are robust, meeting the needs and expectations of our audience.  We’ve had fantastic feedback from audiences and it’s just wonderful to have the building buzzing with audiences and activity again.”

TBTL is proud to be See it Safely approved by Official London Theatre and have received the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard mark.  Strict Covid precautions will be in place to ensure the safety of audiences with enhanced cleaning, ventilation, safe queueing systems in place and reduced touchpoints.  The theatre also encourages audiences to wear masks when attending the theatre (unless exempt). Audiences can also book with confidence knowing that the theatre allows maximum flexibility to exchange or refund your ticket(s) up to 24 hours before the performance.
