Free ticket offer for low-income households

Theatre by the Lake and Anti Racist Cumbria have joined together to offer free theatre tickets for low-income households for upcoming Studio play, Can I Touch Your Hair?

Anti Racist Cumbria and Theatre by the Lake have made 10 tickets available free of charge to local people with low income for award-winning Cumbrian playwright Lekhani Chirwa’s one-woman-show Can I Touch Your Hair?

Cumbrian theatre maker and actress Lekhani Chirwa’s play is a bold yet humorous piece which charts her hair struggles as she grew up dual-heritage in Cumbria but more importantly, the pride and acceptance of identity. There are performances on 23rd and 24th September at 7:30pm.

Janett Walker CEO and Co-Founder of Anti Racist Cumbria said:

“It’s fantastic that Theatre by the Lake are showcasing diverse homegrown talent and we are delighted to offer these free tickets so that more local people can enjoy this great show.”

The idea behind the free tickets is to encourage new audiences who may not have had the opportunity to go to the theatre, and they have been made available for anyone on low or no-income or people who are Black, Brown or from under represented racialised communities.
