National Theatre Connections

The National Theatre’s Connections Festival returns to Theatre by the Lake this spring…

Each year, the National Theatre commissions a series of brand-new plays for young people to perform, connecting some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow.

Here in Cumbria, we’re proud to welcome talented young people from across our local communities as they take to our stages, bringing these new stories to life. The groups presenting work this year are Brewery Arts Youth Theatre, Keswick School and Carlisle Youth Zone.

Part of a nationwide celebration involving over 250 youth theatre companies and 6,000 young people, Connections sees our building transformed by the energy, creativity and voices of the next generation.

TBTL will be taken over by young performers sharing bold, brilliant theatre with live audiences – a true celebration of the power of youth theatre.
