Opera Evening: Four Singers and Five Fabulous Musicians

These enchanting evenings of beautiful music have been gaining a great following in the last couple of years in theatres and stately homes
around the country, so we are delighted to bring them back to Theatre by the Lake.

Expect some of the greatest hits of opera – arias, duets and ensembles – by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and more, mostly sung in English by four exceptional young professional singers who are regularly on the stage at the world’s great opera houses, accompanied by a live string quintet of top professional musicians.

When operas were the musicals of the day, leading composers frequently staged composite productions using some of their own music blended with the best bits of other composers’ works, linked together within a more-or-less new story to showcase the most popular songs.

This evening brings the concept up to date and follows the four characters through a riot of opera blended with some classic hits from the musicals along with some surprises and gems from four centuries of great music. Wit, passion, comedy, tragedy…as you’d expect, it’s all here.
