Head of Marketing & Communications
This is an exciting time to be joining Theatre by the Lake. In March 2023, Simon Stephens will join us as our new Executive Director in a joint leadership role with our current Artistic Director, Liz Stevenson.
This happens at a time of great change for the theatre, as we embed a new programme, moving away from the long-standing rep model, to a more flexible approach, producing our own work in-house and in co-production with other companies and venues, as well as presenting some of the UK’s most exciting touring work.
We also share our stages with a variety of community groups and local organisations, and host a range of activity that helps us to develop local talent. In April, we will begin a new 5 year relationship with our catering partner, Baxter Storey and we are in the process of embedding a new approach to understanding our audience behaviour through effective segmentation. This will be reflected by a review and renewal of our brand in 2023/24 on which the post holder will lead with support from an external consultant.
The Head of Marketing & Communications will take the strategic lead on marketing and developing the audience engagement in order to maximise attendance (productions, events and activities), revenue (ticket sales, fundraising, membership and other activities). and to support the promotion of our catering facilities. They will also develop and communicate the emerging brand strategy, ensure awareness and amplification of our mission, impact and critical place in the cultural landscape.
