His theatre credits include the West End production of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, for which he was also Resident Musical Director, having been involved with the show's development since its inception in 2019. The show won three Olivier Awards including Best New Musical in 2025.

A multi-instrumentalist and experienced musical director, Matt has also toured internationally with bands such as ‘The Bluejays’ and ‘Buddy Holly & The Cricketers’, playing drums, guitar, saxophone, double bass and piano. When not performing, Matt teaches at various drama and theatre schools in London and Brighton.

Zach Burns is an actor based in London. He trained at The Royal Academy of Music.

Zach is vocalist featured on Idols, the latest album from international rock star YungBlud.
He is the writer and composer of the new musical For All about the founding of the NHS, winner of the 2025 Stiles and Drewe Vision Voice and Potential award.

Zach is very excited to be working at TBTL as his dad used to be a gravedigger nearby.

Neal Craig trained at The Manchester School of Theatre and has since built a varied career across theatre, television and film.

Alongside his acting career, Neal is an award-winning comedian, comedy writer and professional clown. He regularly writes and performs for radio sketch show Chat Stick and is an associate member of Company Chris Cresswell Clown Troupe. He recently appeared in Clownspotting at Brighton Theatre Royal.

Connor is a Scottish actor and musician of East Asian descent, delighted to be joining the cast of A Christmas Carol.

Leah is from Merseyside and graduated from Rose Bruford College in 2020 in Actor-Musicianship (BA Cons).

She plays a number of instruments including piano, all saxophones, flute, clarinet, accordion and guitar. Leah has composed music for and musically directed several productions.

Her first job after graduation was to understudy (and play many performances) in Pride and Prejudice (sort of...) that won an Olivier Award in the West End. She went on to co-star in two UK tours of the show and a season at the Mirvish Theatre, Toronto.

In 2025 Leah appeared in The Great Gatsby, Grease and Sunshine on Leith (all at Pitlochry Festival Theatre). She is delighted to be back in the Northwest!

Eleanor trained at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA).

Matt is a writer, director and creative producer. He founded theatre company Goblin in 2013. With Goblin, Matt has written, developed and directed various shows for young and intergenerational audiences that have been performed all around the UK, including at Southbank Centre, Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Exchange, Manchester, Polka Theatre & Little Angel Theatre. Outside of Goblin he works as a writer & director and in theatre programming and producing, specialising in work for young audiences. He is a Stage One bursary recipient and was part of the Stage One UK/US Producers Exchange with Columbia University. Matt has been Senior Producer at Polka Theatre in Wimbledon & is currently Youth and Families Producer at The Place. He is a member of the steering group of PYA England.

Goblin
Mary, Matt & Will are Goblin. Goblin is an acclaimed theatre company known for their innovative use of original music. Goblin creates shows for audiences of all ages, from small-scale touring to a recent focus on larger-scale productions as well as bespoke events and education work. Goblin created The Lost Spells, a new musical adapted from the book by Robert Macfarlane & Jackie Morris, a co-production between Watford Palace Theatre, Polka Theatre and Theatre by the Lake. Mary Erskine and Will Dollard are long-time creative collaborators and began working with Goblin Theatre as resident composer-lyricists in 2013. They share a passion for creating high quality musical and artistic experiences for audiences of all ages.

After university (MA Mus, Glasgow) Will started working in music education alongside his theatre work. He is now the co-Director of Music at the Da Capo Music Foundation, where he has worked closely with Little Angel Theatre, Fantasia Orchestra and the Proms at St Judes. He is also the conductor of the London branch of the Dovetail Orchestra for asylum seekers and refugees. He releases music under the name Old Man Dan and his songs have been played on BBC6Music and BBC Scotland.

Mary is an associate member of the BML writing workshop for composer-lyricists. Recording and releasing under the name Me for Queen, she has toured the UK and Europe and enjoyed support from BBC6 Music, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Scotland.

Andy Barry is a freelance theatre director based in Greater Manchester.

As well as directing, Andy led the internationally recognised and award-winning Elders Company at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre for ten years. Most recently Andy was the Royal Exchange Theatre’s Associate Director and is also an Associate of Goblin Theatre.

Andy is currently undertaking a research project with the University of Warwick exploring theatre’s role in tackling ageism.

Joe has a background in writing, recording, and performing music and graduated in Theatre Sound from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2018. Siân Campbell is a Musical Director and Composer from Greenock, who has been working in theatre since 2018, and graduated from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with an MA in Musical Directing in 2023.

Now based in London, she has enjoyed working on large scale commercial productions such as &Juliet, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Treason, and other New Work such as Saving Mozart and Babies.

Siân has a particular interest in working on actor-muso performances, and is thrilled to be supporting musically on “A Christmas Carol”, having also recently worked at Northern Stage and Derby Theatre on their recent actor-muso production of Little Shop of Horrors.
She will be returning to Scotland to Cumbernauld Theatre this December as Musical Director for Raw Materials Pantomime “Aladdie”.

Oliver Hymans is an award-winning puppetry artist and director, and currently serves as Associate Director at Little Angel Theatre, the UK’s leading puppet theatre.

He has worked internationally across four continents, directing and designing puppetry for theatre, opera, film, dance, circus, and music video. His puppets have been featured at prestigious venues including Tate Modern, Southbank Centre, Royal Albert Hall, Arcola Theatre, The National Gallery, Camden Roundhouse, Lyric Hammersmith, the V&A, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London Craft Week and the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the world’s principal international design fair.

Oliver’s productions have been widely acclaimed by critics, praised as “visually dazzling… funny and beautiful… poetic and precise” (The Guardian), with “rich, sophisticated and thrillingly designed…” (The Stage). His puppet designs have been described as having “brilliant, realistic movement and wonderful personality” (Broadway World) and “filled with life” (Total Theatre Magazine).

A leading figure in the puppetry sector, Oliver is also a specialist in the historic craft of marionette making and in 2023, he successfully championed the addition of marionette puppetry to the Red List of Endangered Crafts. His advocacy and artistry have earned him a QEST Scholarship (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust), inclusion in the prestigious Homo Faber Fellowship, and recognition as a finalist for Heritage Crafts’ Woodworker of the Year 2023. He recently lead the artistic direction of the Little Angel Theatre’s landmark Heritage Lottery project, 600 Years on Strings, which included a brand new marionette production of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, an exhibition and new book called ‘Marionette’.

In 2025, Oliver received a Fringe Theatre Award for Exceptional Services to Puppetry. recognising Oliver’s outstanding contribution to the puppetry world as an advocate, artisan, designer and mentor. He won an OFFIE Award in 2023 for his curation of the outstanding annual puppet festival that spotlights top quality British and international shows for young people and additionally promotes access to puppetry for people of all ages, including industry creatives, by offering practical workshops. Oliver’s efforts also underpin a unique puppetry design training programme, generating opportunity for otherwise underrepresented rising talent to be supported and to present their work publicly, whilst more widely helping secure the future of the genre.

Alongside his professional practice, Oliver has taught widely as a visiting tutor and lecturer at leading UK arts institutions including Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Central Saint Martins, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford College, and Wimbledon College of Arts.

Anna Berentzen is Associate Director at Theatre by the Lake. Prior to joining the organisation, she worked as a freelance theatre director and this year she directed Idyll for Storyhouse and was Project Manager on Outdoor Opera House, an arts and wellbeing festival run by Buxton Opera House and Buxton Civic Association. In 2025 she was selected to be ThickSkin’s Jerwood Associate Artist, where she was Associate Director on It Walks Around the House at Night UK tour, as well as a lead creative workshopping new work and making Generator alongside Neil Bettles.

Anna is Co-Founder of Hawkseed Theatre where she regularly runs community events and workshops including the popular Scribbles Social! and Songs and Stories. Anna regularly creates work with access at its heart and is currently studying towards British Sign Language Level 4.
