Head of Fundraising & Development
Theatre by the Lake, a registered charity, is Cumbria’s professional producing theatre, bringing the world to Cumbria and taking Cumbria to the world.
Hailed as ‘the most beautifully located and friendly theatre in Britain’, each year we present nearly 700 performances from our Keswick home on the shores of Derwent Water, and tour our productions both nationally, and regionally to communities across Cumbria.
We create opportunities for people of all ages, from developing local artists to engaging young people and community groups in all aspects of our work.
As an organisation, we have navigated a great deal of change over recent years and most recently a change in leadership, following the appointment of Executive Director Simon Stephens to join Artistic Director Liz Stevenson as Joint CEO.
It is an exciting time to join Theatre by the Lake. Audiences are returning after the pandemic, our staff team is growing and we are planning for the future with ambition and renewed focus. In 2024-25 we will celebrate our 25th anniversary, presenting a chance to celebrate our shared history with stakeholders and an important opportunity to connect with supporters as we look ahead to the next 25 years of the theatre.
We are looking for an experienced and skilled fundraiser who will play a pivotal role in shaping this future, driving a step change in our approach to philanthropy and championing our social value.
The Head of Fundraising and Development will design and implement strategy across multiple strands of fundraising, developing a compelling case for support to meet our ambitious revenue targets. As part of the wider Senior Management Team, they will also play an instrumental role in the leadership of the organisation.
Given the nature of this role, it is expected that the post-holder will be based at Theatre by the Lake.
